The temperature was freezing, with a gusty stiff breeze. Five people at the start, nine at the end, a few went and came. A couple with a double stroller passed: "You guys are awesome." More to the point, we were cold. When the clock chimed six, the signs went into the car, and no one hung around.

Seven people in front of the courthouse at 5:00PM, eleven people at 6:00. At 5:45 everyone took a minute to look at the lovely sunset.
Early in the hour a woman with two young children stopped by to say, "Thanks for what you are doing. The older daughter, in the first grade, asked, "Why are you doing this?"

This blog is from the Corvallis courthouse peace vigil. The vigil has gathered on Fourth Street in Corvallis, in front of the Benton County Courthouse, every day since October 7, 2001, the day when the United States started the War on Terror by attacking Afghanistan.
